ࡱ> 7:6 xbjbj΀ 4p p$)dL|W::::::u6::0:R::H:: : THE REAL ESTATE TREND..about a year ago, I noticed something a bit unusual while driving down the country roads of Nebraska and Iowa.. Auction signs. It seemed to me that much of the Real Estate in this area was being sold at Auction. And I thought it might just be a short lived trend with the land prices ranging and varying so much in this part of the country, and no one really knowing what their true market value might be. But the signs just kept cropping up everywhere! And more and more of our clients wanted to sell their land at Auction! As you all know, we are a small family owned company, and keeping up with the big guys is sometimes difficult. We pride ourselves on customized customer service, and being small allows us to do that! But we also want to be able to help you with ALL of your needs! So after researching Auction sales a little, I decided that I wanted to become an Auctioneer. Not only would it benefit our company, but it would benefit our clients as well. Believe it or not, theres a lot more to being Auctioneer than meets the eye! I didnt know what I was getting into when I signed up for auctioneering school at the World Wide College of Auctioneering. We were in class from 8:00 AM to 9 or 10 PM every night! But I learned an interesting statistic while in class one evening. The National Board of Realtors did a study in 2001 and decided that 20% of Real Estate sales would be sold at Auction by 2010. They have since revised that number to be closer to 40% by this year. And I believe it. Go into any rural gas station, truck stop, coffee shop, or diner and you will more than likely see a bulletin board filled with sale bills! By the way, I did graduate from the World Wide College of Auctioneering, and I am ready to help you, or anyone you know, plan an auction sale! -Col. Molly McClure The designation of Colonel comes from the American Civil War. Goods were seized by Armies during battles and sold at Auction by the Colonel of the division. Thus, some of today's auctioneers in the U.S. carry the unofficial title of "colonel". Wowwas all I could say as I drove up Highway 275 in Northeastern Nebraska, towards Norfolk. Some of you may have witnessed the rains of June first hand, but if you didnt, here are some interesting statistics: Some of the hardest hit areas, generally north of Interstate 80, have had as much of 15 inches of rain in the month June. This is approximately 7-8 inches more than normal for this month. The rains came in a short amount of time causing many of the rivers and streams to come over their banks and destroy the crops that surround them. Almost every field on each side of the road had damage. Even the hill farms had issues with crops being completely washed away and deep ruts cut into the ground. The rains came all at once, almost every night and day. The State of Nebraska asked the Federal Government for billions of dollars to help repair roads and bridges that were washed away or damaged by water standing on them for days on end. Some of the roads West of Norfolk were still closed as of June 28th.
